ICTM: 10/17/22, Culture week

People like us do things like this.

Objective

As a golfer, I understand is repeated five times in the Sixtyone Academy Code. Understanding, the ability to perceive the intended meaning of, what it means to be a golfer is fundamental to Being Sixtyone: People like us do things like this.

At Sixtyone, everything comes back to golf. Golf is a game of honor and integrity. There are no referees or umpires on the golf course. Golfers are not only asked to follow the rules. They are expected to penalize themselves if they break any. Sixtyone culture is defined by being the best golfer we possibly can.

Expected outcome

  • Students should recognize that being honorable and respected is noble. It is special. And, it is cool.
  • Students should also recognize that noble doesn’t mean perfect. We all make mistake. Being noble means you own up to them and move forward.

Activities

  • Read the code out loud to the students and explain each section.
  • Connect how self-awareness, strategy and culture work together in the game of becoming a complete and independent young golfer.
  • Separate into small teams and play Noble.
