Next Sunday, the 16th of February, SBCUSD CAPS GOLF students and their families will take a trip down the 210 freeway to Pacific Palisades. They will be headed to Riviera Country Club to watch Tiger Woods and a few of his PGA TOUR pals play some golf.
This year’s Genesis Invitational field is stocked full of PGA talent. with the top six players in the Official World Golf Ranking, and nine of the world’s top 10 golfers in the field. Along with tournament host, Tiger Woods, the CAPS GOLF students will get a chance to see World No. 1 Brooks Koepka, World No. 2 and reigning PGA TOUR Player of the Year Rory McIlroy, World No. 3 Jon Rahm, and World No. 4, current PGA TOUR FedExCup points leader Justin Thomas.
When you throw in Dustin Johnson, UCLA’s Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele; and 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist Justin Rose; it should be an eye-opening experience for the young San Bernardino City Unified golfers. Hopefully, they will get a chance to see Phil Mickelson or Bubba Watson play shots from the trees that are similar to shots faced by most beginner golfers.
