Not necessary for eagles to be crows

Tȟatȟáŋka Íyotake is how he was known to his people, the Hunkpapa band of the Lakota Sioux. Most know him as Sitting Bull. In an 1883 speech defending his people in a congressional hearing, he said;

I am a red man. If the Great Spirit had desired me to be a white man he would have made me so in the first place. He put in your heart certain wishes and plans, and in my heart he put other and different desires. Each man is good in His sight. It is not necessary for eagles to be crows.

His point was that there is nothing wrong with being different. There are many different ways, different plans, different desires. There is no right way or wrong way. One person’s way is not better than another’s.

Being a golfer is the same. There are many ways, plans and desires in golf too. Some are more effective than others. Some lead to better results. It is up to each golfer to figure out what works best for them.

Golf is personal.

People are different.

Be different!

Big question/s

  1. Can you briefly describe something you do differently than others?
  2. How about golf? In what ways do you play golf differently than others?
