Do you know why being a golfer is so hard?
To be clear, the act of hitting a golf ball is really simple. You swing a stick and hit a ball. That is easy. But hitting it straight and then into a hole, that is another thing altogether. Playing golf is definitely a challenge. Being a golfer is even harder.
Golfers keep their own score. Golfers do the right thing whether they are being watched or not. Golfers play by the rules… always!
Getting the ball in the hole in (typically) three, four or five shots is difficult. Being honest all of the time is not. Playing the game of golf is one thing. Calling yourself a golfer is something different.
Responsibility equals privileges in Sixtyone culture. The privilege of calling yourself a golfer requires that you accept the responsibilities.
Do the difficult things when they are easy and the great big things when they are small. If you want to change the way people think about golf:
- Make your bed.
- Find someone to help you reach your goals.
- Respect everyone.
- Understand that you will fail.
- And, don’t back down from the sharks.
Be a Sixtyone golfer. The rest is easy.
