Golfers know golf is different. Golf is, as Arnold Palmer said, deceptively simple and endlessly complicated. Golf is frustrating and at the same time golf is fun. That’s right. Golf is fun, when you know where to look.
Golf is so much more of a mental game than other sports. Action sports (e.g. soccer, football, basketball) make you react. Golf makes you think. The most difficult part of golf is all of the time you have to think about what you are doing. So if you have to think to be a golfer, think about having fun.
Think about how to make your practice more fun by playing games. At Sixtyone, we play tic-tac-toe on the putting green to make aiming and distance control practice more fun. Sevens is another putting game that does the same. These are just two games. The truth is that there is no limit in how many ways you can make golf more fun. Make up a game.
Whether you are on the putting green, chipping area, driving range or even on the golf course; think of playing a game or two. It’s golf. You are going to be thinking anyway. You might as well think about having fun.
