All the things we do are often accompanied by a little background noise. Some things, the important things, have even more noise. The noises that come from inside our own heads are always the loudest.
Most of us accept the noise. Distractions help us feel comfortable. What we don’t like is the silence, the quiet. Distractions give us excuses, but the quiet is where you can find the answers.
When you learn to discard the distractions and enjoy the silence, you will be able to focus better and think clearly. Learning to enjoy silence can help you relax and find peace inside yourself. Silence can help you listen to others and understand their point of view. Silence can help you come up with new ideas, be more creative. Silence can help you stay mindful and appreciate each moment.
Most important, learning to not be afraid of silence will help you be your best at whatever it is you are doing.
That is always the goal.
