Sixtyone defines fun as the enjoyment that comes from being physically and mentally fit. Anything you do is more fun when you are physically prepared to do it and mentally prepared to handle what happens.
It is really hard to always make the golf ball go where you want it to go. So, every golfer understands why mental fitness is important at the golf course. But physical fitness is important too.
It is true. Golf is not like other sports. Being the tallest golfer does not help you like in basketball. Being the fastest runner does not help like in soccer. But the stronger you are and the more athletic you are, the easier it is to play.
The good news is that you do not need special equipment or a membership at a gym to get stronger. Calisthenics are exercises that use your own body weight to help you get stronger and increase flexibility.
Squats help your hips, thighs and core.
Lunges do the same.
Push-ups build your arms, chest, shoulders.
Planks are great for your core.
Start small. Find yourself some space at home, and a favorite instructor online. Give yourself an easy goal. Try five or ten minutes a day for two weeks and see what happens.
Then, set another goal.
