ATN session: Tuesday, June 15

This is culture week. People like us do things like this. This week we're going to talk about why we prefer to walk the course.

OBJECTIVE:

The week we focus on culture: People like us do things like this. Do you know why Sixtyone golfers prefer to walk. Here’s a hint: it’s not just to keep kids out of the carts.

Modern golf dates back to the 15th century. The first 18 hole round was played at St. Andrews in Scotland in the late 1700s. Golf carts weren’t invented until 1950s.

Golf is a game that was meant to be played on foot. We walk not to be mean and keep kids from driving the golf carts. We walk because that’s how it’s supposed to be played, and it’s good for you.

Golf has several positives aspects: it’s fun to hit a ball, it’s challenging, you can make new friends, business networking, it’s a game of honor, you can play with your family, and it’s good for you.

Walking the course is the best way to get exercise and to clear your head.

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Watch this video on forest bathing. Here’s another one.
  2. Talk about how the weekly themes fit together
    • Self-awareness (reflection, strengths and weaknesses, manage emotions, considering others, accepting criticism).
    • Strategy (goals/objectives, plans, tactics/steps).
    • Culture (People like us do things like this).
    • Fun/enjoyment (mental + physical health).

BIG QUESTIONS:

  • Why do you think we get anxious?
  • Do you have something that you do to get rid of your anxiety?
  • Does golf make you frustrated?
  • If so, why do you think we get frustrated?

At Sixtyone, we believe that you should play golf wherever you can, whenever you can and however you can. You’ll feel better. We promise. Hit us up if you want to find out what we mean.

Change. Think. Golf.
