Opportunity
Students from the SBCUSD CAPS golf program and others participating in the San Bernardino Community Golf Project have been invited to visit the LPGA Chevron Championship golf tournament. The tournament is taking place at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA.
The Chevron Championship is the first major tournament of the year for the LPGA. Students and their families will be guests of Chevron, the LPGA, IMG, and many others. On top of being able to watch the best ladies in the world play golf, the students will be treated to:
- Transportation to and from the tournament
- Tickets to the event
- Food and drinks during their visit
- And, other special opportunities.
Itinerary and logistics
This schedule is subject to change so make sure to stay connected in case there are adjustments. But, this is the current plan:
- Monday, March 28 @ 6:30 p.m. Special event Golf Talk session. We’ll meet here to go over event details and answer questions.
- Wednesday, March 30 @ 3:30 p.m. Everyone making the trip to Mission Hills is invited to come by Shandin Hills Golf Club. Come refresh your Sixtyone gear. We want everyone looking nice!
- Thursday, March 31
- 9:30 a.m. Those traveling on the bus will meet at Shandin Hills GC. The bus will leave between 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. Anyone driving their own car is welcome to meet at this time and caravan together to Rancho Mirage.
- 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. Bus arrives at Mission Hills CC main entrance. Families driving their own cars will be parking offsite. Additional parking information to follow.
- Noon Lunch will be provided once we enter the tournament grounds.
- 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Aimless wandering around the tournament grounds to see what you can see.
- 2:00 p.m. Meet up at the practice putting green to compare notes and talk story.
- 2:30 p.m. Special, backstage access tour.
- 4:00 p.m. Approximate time of departure.
- LPGA events aren’t as strict as the PGA, but you are not allowed to take whatever you want into the tournament. Please visit this page to see what items are prohibited.
